Amy’s House is a respite facility for children with special needs. As well as caring for children the facility also provides welcome respite for parents and carers, who often don’t get a chance to meet and talk to other adults at the weekend.
Despite there being a growing number of families in need of weekend respite, Amy’s House is the only facility of its kind in Sheffield to offer this type of service.
PACT is a charity which supports the families of children being treated for cancer or leukaemia at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
It provides trips and treats for the families throughout the year including holidays in it's two caravans. PACT also has a house near to the hospital where the families can stay while their child is being treated at the hospital.
Joanne and Stephen Hall created Amy’s Retreat in 2001 after losing their daughter Amy to cancer on 2nd February 2000. Each year they raise much needed funds to provide 24 breaks to families who have a child with cancer.
It is so important for a family to have a break away from the hospital/home routine, to be able to take out as a family to build some special memories at what can be an uncertain time.
